First grader loves it (2008-12-18)
My first grade boy loved this book and plowed right through it. My only concern was that it looked a little bit easy, but maybe if it had been tougher my son would not have plowed through it. I think it is another quality product from BrainQuest.

Brain Quest for Our Little Nerds! :) (2008-12-17)
I admit we are a nerdy family. My four-year-old LOVES books and reads them ALL day long! Now that he is in school (he is home-schooled), he likes to do additional work pages, so I was very glad to add this Brain Quest Grade 1 to his curriculum. This edition comes with some extra goodies including: 150+ stickers, a poster, a mini-card deck (like the regular Brain Quest decks) and a Brainiac Award Certificate. The pages are visually pleasing and fun.

The topics include: Phonics, spelling, vocab, language arts, reading, writing, sequencing & sorting, math, Addition & subtraction, shapes & measurement, time & money, social studies and science.

This would be a great investment into your child's education. In a modern dumbed-down society, we can't over-stress thinking and brain skills. No one has ever regretted having a sharp mind!

Educative & Entertaining fun work book (2008-12-17)
The best thing I like about this book is that it is something which the kids will love to work, while being educative at the same time. The exercises are brief and designed to grab the child's interest & attention.

Here is what I like about the most:
+ lots of colors and bright designs to get a child's attention
+ The exercises are designed in a way as to get the child to start applying their mind to question, ponder and come to an answer
+ Designed for children ages 6 to 7 (first grade) - goes well with their classroom studies as a useful supplement

Fun and Colorful (2008-12-15)
I am mother to four very bright children who enjoy learning. I also school them at home. I am always on the look-out for fun books that will reinforce what I teach and/or give the kids a little extra practice.

I decided to try this book for my six year old son. He is really enjoying it so far. The pages are really colorful and fun. He likes it because none of the activities are too hard for him to do on his own. It makes him feel smart to finish a page without any help from me. This book is the perfect level for him. The activities are not so easy that my son gets bored, but they're not so hard that he gets discouraged.

I like this book because the pages are perforated. I can tear out a couple of pages and hand them to my son to do on his own while I am busy teaching one of the other children. He has lots of fun doing them and they can keep him preoccupied for a long stretch of time. I also like this workbook because the activities are an extra help to me in pointing out some areas in which my son may need a little more practice or help with a concept.

The workbook is divided into sections, so I can pick and choose which subjects I want my 6 year old to practice on any given day. It's easy to find a worksheet that will reinforce what he is learning. Subjects include: phonics, spelling, vocabulary, language arts, reading, writing, sequencing and sorting, math skills, addition and subtraction, shapes and measurements, time and money, social studies, and science.

The answers are included in the back. Other perks include flashcards and stickers. Another plus is the positive reinforcement. Every time your child finishes a chapter in the workbook, he gets a sticker to place on the Brainiac Award. When all 13 chapters have been completed, then you give your child his or Brainquest Brainiac Award certificate. This gives your child a tangible way to gauge his progress and an incentive to keep going.

Builds Confidence, good review and supplement! (2008-12-09)
We are homeschoolers, so this was a neat thing to try out - I'm always looking for fun ways to reinforce the children's learning. My own first grader found most of this to be too easy, but my Kindergartner LOVED trying out most of the pages - and succeeding! I like that it's full color, and that it has the activities separated by color and subject type.

It's extremely thick, and for a visual learner, this is a nice touch on every subject from reading, and spelling to math and science. Very nice addition to our library of workbooks.
